I'm suddenly finding myself with time on my hands...

Today I joined 6.5% of Texans/8.1% of Americans as I prepare to file for my first unemployment claim this weekend. The "non-recession" is hitting everywhere, so I was not surprised that as the last in, I would be the first out at work. The good news is that I was treated with an incredible amount of dignity and was even given advanced notice before the pink slip found me. I love the job and hope to return when things get better.

So here's my plan for the next while...until lady luck shines on my again with work:

This week:
Run 6 miles (at least) on Wednesday, 5 miles on Thursday, and rest on Friday
Pack up Harvey's study & Valerie's old room a bit each day to begin the face-lift
Pick out paint colors
Half marathon on Saturday

Next week:
File unemployment claim
Workout more consistently:
  • Run 6 miles X 4 days
  • Freshen up the bike and ride 1-2 days
  • Dust off the Bow-flex and start weight training
Strip wall paper from Harvey's study and Valerie's old room.
Buy paint, tape and whatever else I need
Paint
Cook dinner for my family (take creativity with all the different tastes)
Play a little golf
Oh, job hunt

Check back soon to see how well I do with my goals over the next 10 or so days.

Wow I'm really saddened to hear, but good news is now we maybe could have that lunch that we talked about. I love you and will be praying for you and your job situation. Please keep me posted.
